It tells the fascinating story of an unlikely friendship between two boys living on either side of the fence of a concentration camp. Berlin, 1942 - Bruno is nine years old and nothing about the meaning of the Final Solution and the Holocaust. He is unaware of the terrible cruelty that his country is inflicting on the people of Europe. All he knows is that his father has been promoted in his job and has gone from living in a comfortable home in Berlin to an isolated area where there is not much to do and yet no one to play with. But everything changes when he meets Shmuel, a boy who lives a strange parallel existence on the other side of the fence, as all who dwell there, wears a uniform similar to striped pajamas. Bruno's friendship with Shmuel will mark the end of their childhood innocence. Their secret meetings lead to a friendship which are amazing and devastating consequences.
